11 Exceptional Students Honored with the Mar Baselios Vidhya Sree Puraskar and the Historic Inauguration of the 2024 “Kalalaya Santhwana” Awards
In a resounding celebration of academic brilliance, the 14th Mar Baselios Vidhya Sree Puraskar honored 11 extraordinary top scorers of the 10th standard (State syllabus) from across the dioceses of the Syro Malankara Catholic Church. These prestigious accolades were presented during the grand Syro Malankara Re-Union Day celebrations, held at the Venganoor V.P.S Malankara H.S.S, under the Parassala Diocese, on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The 2024 Kalalaya Santhwana, a groundbreaking financial aid initiative supporting 30 students from every diocese, has been officially launched, with the first round of awards proudly bestowed upon the deserving recipients from the Parassala Diocese. The awards were conferred at the illustrious MCA International Laity Meet by Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Yausobios, Bishop of Parassala Diocese, alongside His Excellency Joshua Mar Ignatios, Chairman of the Laity Commission and Bishop of Mavelikkara, with the esteemed presence of KMRM President Babuji Bathery, General Secretary Binu K. John, and Treasurer Rana Varghese.
The event was helmed by Adv. Abraham Pattiyani, the distinguished Sabhathala President of MCA, and graced by the momentous inauguration by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis, the revered head of the Malankara Catholic Church. A powerful benedictory address was delivered by His Excellency Joshua Mar Ignatios, inspiring the audience with his words. Rev. Fr. Mathews Kuzhivila, MCA Sabhathala Director, also imparted an impactful message during the event.
In his stirring felicitation speech, KMRM President Babuji Bathery reaffirmed KMRM’s resolute commitment to nurturing young scholars who demonstrate exceptional academic prowess. He proudly declared that KMRM has upheld this tradition for 14 years, recognizing these bright minds with the Mar Baselios Vidhya Sree Puraskar. Furthermore, he announced the inauguration of the Kalalaya Santhwana Awards, a transformative initiative extending financial support to aspiring professionals as they begin their higher education journeys. Bathery emphasized that through its enduring dedication, KMRM has contributed over ₹5 crore in aid to deserving over the past two decades, making a lasting impact on countless lives.
His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis, joined by other distinguished bishops and dignitaries, lauded KMRM’s unparalleled generosity and unwavering dedication to serving the marginalized. Their collective accolades echoed the profound significance of KMRM’s contributions to society. The gathering was graciously welcomed by N. Dharmaraj, the honorable Sabhathala Secretary of MCA, while a heartfelt vote of thanks was delivered by Mohanan Kannaravila, Diocesan President of Parassala. The event opened with a solemn Bible reading by Mrs. Y. Kala, Sabhathala Vice President.
