On the request of the Holy Synod of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, the Holy Father Pope Francis has appointed His Excellency Most Rev. Thomas Mar Anthonios as the new Bishop of the Eparchy of St. John Chrysostom of Gurgaon, transferring him from the Eparchy of St. Ephrem Khadki. His Beatitude Baselios Cardinal Cleemis, the Major Archbishop-Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church appointed His Excellency Bishop Thomas Mar Anthonios as the Major Archiepiscopal Administrator until a new canonical provision is made for the Eparchy of St. Ephrem Khadki-Pune. The enthronement ceremony of His Excellency will be held on June 30, 2022 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Nebsarai, New Delhi. Msgr. Dr. ANTONY KAKKANATT Bishop-Elect of the Major Archiepiscopal Curia After securing the assent from the Holy See, the Holy Episcopal Synod of the SMCC has elected Msgr. Dr. Antony Kakkanatt as the Bishop of the Major Archiepiscopal Curia of the Syro Malankara Catholic Church. Presently, he is serving as the Executive Director of the Suvisesa Sangam of Syro Malankara Catholic Church. Msgr. Dr. Antony Kakkanatt hails from the Kadamankulam parish of the Archdiocese of Tiruvalla. The ceremony of Conferring the Status of Ramban will be held on 18 June 2022 at St. John’s Cathedral, Tiruvalla and the Episcopal Consecration will be held on 15 July 2022 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Pattom, Trivandrum. Msgr. Dr. MATHEW MANAKARAKAVIL COREPISCOPO Auxiliary Bishop-Elect of the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum. After having completed all the canonical procedures and having obtained the pontifical assent from the Holy See, the Holy Episcopal Synod of the Syro Malankara Catholic Church elected Msgr. Dr. Mathew Manakarakavil Corepiscopo as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum. Presently, Msgr. Dr. Mathew Manakarakavil Corepiscopo is serving as the Proto- Syncellus of the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum. He has held various positions as Principal of Mar Ivanios College, Member of the French and Latin Language Board of Studies and Academic Council in the University of Kerala. He has served as the Vicar of more than 35 mission parishes. Msgr. Dr. Mathew Manakarakavil Corepiscopo hails from the Puthur parish of the Diocese of Mavelikkara. The ceremony of Conferring the Status of Ramban will be held on 21 June 2022 at St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church, Puthur and the Episcopal Consecration will be held on 15 July 2022 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Trivandrum.
